Copyright Education – Australia Speaks

All sorts of organizations in various countries are delving into copyright education.  A major public awareness campaign was launched in Australia by the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation (IPAF) on 12 September 2011 to convince consumers not to take part in piracy.  Some interesting comments as reported in The Australian:

Gail Grant, chief executive of the IPAF:

  • Education is absolutely the core of the message
  • Consumers had been left confused about what they could and could not do online and wanted clearer guidelines.

Kim Williams, chief executive of Foxtel:

  • A combination of education and legal penalties is the best way to tackle the issue
